Specialist rehabilitation, family-run, since 1996.

Evexia Plus is a 287-bed specialist rehabilitation hospital located near Thessaloniki, in northern Greece. For thirty years our multidisciplinary teams have helped patients recover from stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, post-operative orthopaedic conditions, and a wide range of paediatric and neurological conditions.

Our hospital is designed for one purpose. Recovery. Seven specialist wards, a three-pool hydrotherapy complex with indoor and outdoor pools, advanced robotic and virtual reality rehabilitation, and on-site diagnostics including microbiology and radiology. Every member of our clinical and support staff communicates in English.

In Ireland, our own Irish team answers the phone, explains the EU Cross-Border Directive, and stays with each family from the first call to the discharge letter.

Where Evexia fits for Irish families.

Not every patient needs international rehabilitation. The HSE Cross-Border pathway makes sense in specific, repeating scenarios.

When the wait is longer than the window

Inpatient neurorehabilitation in Ireland has a typical waiting time of twelve to eighteen months. For stroke or brain injury, that interval often exceeds the neuroplasticity window where early intensive rehabilitation produces the strongest functional gains.

When acute discharge is imminent

Patients ready for rehabilitation often occupy acute beds because no inpatient rehabilitation place is available. Evexia can accept patients within weeks of acute discharge, with the clinical handover documented and the PRM Physician treatment plan ready before arrival.

When family wants to be part of the rehabilitation

One family member stays free in the hospital, with seaside hotels nearby for additional family. Free shuttle bus to Thessaloniki, free airport transfers in both directions for patient and family. The family is part of the rehabilitation, not a guest of it.

When the funding pathway exists

The EU Cross-Border Healthcare Directive allows eligible Irish patients to receive treatment in another EU country and be reimbursed by the HSE. The directive is established in EU law and Irish HSE rules. No medical card or private health insurance is required to apply.

Your Clinical Team

The people who run your recovery.

Recovery happens through people, not machines. Until you meet them, here is who stands behind every programme:

Medical direction
Five consultant Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Physicians, one of whom personally leads each patient's case from admission to discharge.
Resident medical team
Internal medicine physicians providing 24-hour cover, with consultants in cardiology, neurology, orthopaedic surgery, respiratory medicine and radiology on staff, and further specialties on call.
Therapy leadership
Senior physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, neuropsychologists and hydrotherapy specialists, working as one team with a single plan per patient.

Most families start with one phone call.

Tell us about your family member. Our Irish team explains the EU Cross-Border Directive, confirms whether Evexia fits, and outlines next steps. No referral or paperwork needed for the first call.
